Meals |
Men and women went to three different neighborhood locations daily for meals and our Service Center served lunch every day and dinners on weekends. |
Food Gatherers Community Kitchen on premise provides lunch and dinner, and night shelter guests eat breakfast on premise. |
|
Employment and job training |
Clients went to other facilities to utilize computers for job searching. |
Our resource room offers on-site computers and training. A part-time employee with MI WORKS is also on site to assist with resume writing, job skills, and employment searches. |
|
Substance Abuse Recovery |
Clients accessed recovery services off-site. |
AA and NA meetings are held on premise, providing strong links with the recovery community. Substance abuse evaluation and referrals available on site. |
|
Case Management Consulting space |
Offices were cubicle-style with no privacy available. |
Individuals can meet privately with their case manager. |
|
Overnight Shelter |
Bunk beds were barracks-style; approximately 35 of them were in a basement that leaked and was not handicap accessible. |
Sleeping rooms have regular beds (not bunk beds), are handicap accessible, and house four people per room. |
|
Facilities |
The three older, retrofitted buildings were difficult to maintain and scattered our staff, services and resources. |
One new building provides consolidated services and systems, as well as easier access to staff and services. |
