Volunteer Opportunities
Last year, volunteers donated approximately 17,000 hours, representing over $280,000 of services the Shelter Association might otherwise not have been able to provide. More than 240 volunteers are an integral and consistent component of our programs.
Our dedicated volunteers are involved in nearly every aspect of our services, from helping our staff deliver basic services provided at the shelter--such as: assisting staff at our medical clinic, with front desk check-ins, laundry, showers, serving breakfast, and other on-site duties, to providing the personal touch and support so direly needed by many of the men and women that we serve.
More than simply supporting services, our volunteers are truly important because of the significant interpersonal contact they have with our clients. Creating a comfortable space, listening empathetically, and talking with our clients are all important components of our programming. Volunteers often make the difference between providing basic services and touching a person's life.
Clients appreciate the opportunity to talk to someone and be listened to genuinely and respectfully. Five shifts are available, from 6:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m., seven days a week.
You too, can be a part of this important work!
