MLive - Lives Saved After Drug Overdoses at Ann Arbor Homeless Shelter

ANN ARBOR, MI - Knowing how to respond to drug overdoses is part of the job, say the workers at the Delonis Center, an Ann Arbor homeless shelter.

Since Nov. 15, there have been four heroin and opioid overdoses at the shelter at 312 W. Huron St., including another last week.

The shelter's staff is using a combination of CPR and naloxone, a drug also known by the brandname Narcan, to reverse the overdoses and save lives, said Ellen Schulmeister, executive director of the Shelter Association of Washtenaw County, which runs the Delonis Center...
